Mission Statement

What We Believe

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the basis for any statement of faith. The church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of the “Baptist Faith and Message” as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 1963. We band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind, worshipping Him in truth, and equipping all to serve Him in joy and thought. The ordinances of the church are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Church Statement

First Baptist of Atwater is about joining God on a daily basis, with our lives, alongside one another in His work of building His Kingdom here.

We do this through His mandate on the church to make disciples of all nations

We must recognize as one church body the biblical definition of a disciple.

Biblical definitions:

1. A disciple of Jesus is a follower of Christ, believer in the Gospel and committed to its impact in their lives

2. A disciple of Jesus is committed to allowing God to do the work of training in their lives through discipleship in the local church.

3. A disciple of Jesus is active in one form or another and concerned about the work God is doing through outreach and His mission.
